Mutual Aid Ambulance Service

Serving Western Pennsylvania since 1968
"Service...That Others May Live"

Being a member of Mutual Aid Ambulance Service entitles you to more than peace of mind!

As healthcare, Medicare, and the healthcare insurance industry changes, Mutual Aid has continued to adapt and expand our service to you. Our commitment includes around-the-clock emergency medical care by over 200 paid, professional EMTs and paramedics. This is provided from ten community-based ambulance stations with 34 ambulances and other special vehicles.

Your membership pays for...

  • Unlimited transportation to local hospitals in emergency situations.
  • Transportation to and from approved facilities, or your home, in a non-emergency situation if the transport is medically necessary and reasonable.
  • All deductibles and co-payment requirements of Medicare or your insurance company.
  • An expanded range of services to help you cope with more restrictive rules of Medicare and other insurance companies such as…
  • Low cost ambulance transportation for service that Medicare and other insurance companies deem not reasonable or necessary (outlined below)

Your membership provides a discount for…

  • Transportation that is not medically necessary.
  • Transportation to or from non-approved facilities.
  • Transportation deemed unnecessary by your insurance company or Medicare- i.e. transportation to your doctor's office for a routine examination or for any service that could be provided in your home.
  • Transportation to Pittsburgh area facilities when medically necessary and reasonable.

You are responsible to...

  • Provide all relevant personal, medical, and insurance information to Mutual Aid.
  • Insure that all Medicare and private insurance company requirements are met.
  • Notify and submit to Mutual Aid any fees paid to you by your insurance company for your ambulance transportation.
  • Pay mileage charges for transportation outside our service area.

Your membership permits Mutual Aid Ambulance Service to bill Medicare and other insurance companies on your behalf and to accept payment from those insurers.

Membership period is April 1 -March 31 and cannot be prorated. Rates may be subject to change without notice. Membership status may change if you become a resident of a nursing, home. Contact the business office for details.
