Child Passenger Safety Technicians

Mutual Aid EMS offers a team of nationally certified as Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPS-T) to conduct child safety seat inspections and assist with installations.

Technicians conduct child safety seat checks within the community and by individual appointment. During these events, parents and caregivers receive hands-on education, support, and assistance for proper use of child restraint systems and safety belts. In conjunction with the Pennsylvania Traffic Injury Prevention Project (www.pakidstravelsafe.org) additional resources can be offered to families in a time of emergency, such as replacement car seats and referrals to specialty vendors who may accommodate additional family needs.

The CPS certification program certifies people as child passenger safety technicians and instructors. Since the CPS certification program began in 1997, more than 162,000 people have successfully completed the certification course, including more than 41,000 currently certified as technicians.
