Why should I subscribe? Your subscription infuses critical dollars into YOUR emergency medical services organization. These funds are used for top of the line medical equipment, personal protective equipment, crew training, and community programs. By investing in Mutual Aid EMS membership program, you’re supporting a non-profit organization that is committed to provide the highest quality service in your time of need. Without you, we wouldn’t exist!
Does my membership provide coverage outside the community? Yes, it does. Mutual Aid Ambulance Service maintains reciprocal agreements with other local ambulance services. For further assistance, please contact our Business Office at (724)-837-6134.
If I have health insurance, do I need a membership? Yes. Your subscription assures that you will not incur any unnecessary bills for medically necessary emergency ambulance service, regardless of your insurance coverage. Most insurance companies do not pay 100% of ambulance bills. If your coverage includes a deductible or a co-payment, you could be left with a large balance to pay out-of-pocket. Keep in mind non-subscribers are responsible for full payment of all applicable charges, which often can exceed more than $600 per trip.
Terms and Conditions of the Membership: “I understand that membership agreements with Mutual Aid provide transportation benefits only and that payment for any treatments provided by Mutual Aid personnel on-scene is the responsibility of the patient, to the extent that those treatment charges are not paid by Medicare, Medicaid or any other payor on behalf of the patient. Charges for treatments vary and the patient will be charged at the Medicare rate when there is a designated rate for that service.”
“Mutual Aid is permitted and will bill Medicare, Medicaid and private insurers for transportation, even when the member/patient refuses transport. The member will not be responsible for transportation charges if transportation is refused, if charges remain unpaid by Medicare, Medicaid or a private insurer.”
“Benefits of membership do not include charges for any medical services or treatments. The member/patient will be charged and is responsible for payment of treatment/services provided even when transportation is refused.”
“Mutual Aid has the right to bill for transportation and treatments when the member refuses transport. In that event, the member/patient will not be charged for transportation, but will be charged for treatments not paid by Medicare, Medicaid or any other payor on behalf of the patient.”
